The Scottish folk-ambient circle the Blue Nile has enjoyed a mystique contrived by its inaccessibility and the rarity of its recordings, only it has also made a series of critically acclaimed discs. The group was formed by trey Glasgow natives wHO had graduated from university there: Paul Buchanan, bassist Robert Bell, and keyboardist Paul Joseph Moore. (Locomotive engineer Callum Malcolm and drummer Nigel Thomas feature worked with the trio systematically, to the decimal point of being considered secondary bandmembers.) (The Blue Nile is the title of Alan Moorehead's 1962 continuation to The White Nile, the two books making up a chronicle of the Nile River.) They recorded their possess single, "I Love This Life," which was distributed by Robert Stigwood's RSO Records precisely before the fellowship closed its doors. They were then signed by Linn Products, which released their debut record album, A Walk Across the Rooftops, in 1984. (A&M handled it in the U.S.) Since the company was small and the band did not enlistment, the record album took some sentence to find its audience, though it briefly reached the U.K. charts and lED to high expectations for a mo album. This came in 1989 with Hats, which reached the British Top 20, throwing off ternary graph singles, "The Downtown Lights," "Headlights on the Parade," and "Saturday Night." The album too made the lower reaches of the American charts as the Blue Nile embarked on its first circuit, a 30-date travel pickings position in the British Isles and the U.S. In the ensuing years, the band members switched record labels, sign language to Warner Bros., and contributed to recordings by Robbie Robertson and Julian Lennon. They ultimately emerged with their tierce album, Peace at Last, in June 1996. Another critically acclaimed release, it placed in the U.K. Top 20, merely failed to chart in the U.S.

Twins news surprised Angelina

Angelina Jolie has talked candidly about her desire to continue expanding her family with Brad Pitt. But when the actress found out she was pregnant with twins, well, even she was taken aback, People.com reports.

We werent expecting twins, Jolie, 33, tells Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. So it did shock us, and we jumped to six (children) quickly. But we like a challenge.

With a house full of kids, Jolie says she needs help so its a good thing theres family around to pitch in. (Brads) mom and dad are on standby to come out and help, she says.

But the real focus, Jolie says, is making sure their other children Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2 feel included when their new siblings are born.

Theyre old enough to feel included to change diapers themselves, to feed bottles themselves, like if I pump into a bottle, Jolie says. Were trying to find ways where it can be a fun group thing ... Everybody gets special time so we can make sure we know where theyre at.

As for how shes handling being pregnant with twins, Jolie tells EW shes taking it easy and letting Pitt handle all the heavy lifting literally.

Though his name barely registers among most of the Krautrock intelligentsia, Schickert was both prolific in the back scenes as well as organism an important creative person. Along with the better-known Achim Reichel, Schickert pioneered the echo guitar, where the repeated guitar tones create unequalled multi-layered textures that take the musical instrument quite beyond the ordinary.

Schickert was combat-ready through much of the sixties in the Berlin free-jazz picture, though it wasn't until 1974 that his first base album, Samtvogel came tabu, self-released by Schickert in a low clutch. The album was alone enough that it was quickly snatched up by the fabled Brain label, and they reissued the record the following twelvemonth. Samtvogel is quite similar to Manuel Gottsching's like solo-guitar album Inventions for Electric Guitar, where guitar sounds ar layered and superimposed on round top of each other to create new hypnotic textures.

In 1973 Schickert founded the trio GAM, with guitar player Axel Struck and percussionist Michael Aleska, and with Schickert on guitar, vocals and trumpet this group created a unequaled sort of freaked-out blank rock. GAM recorded some cram roger Huntington Sessions in 1976, which were in the end released on cassette in 1986 coroneted Gam 1976, and an unreleased album called Eiszeit in 1978.

At this time Schickert was besides creating music for a theatre company, and even performing live on stage in some of the productions. He besides served as a roadie for electronic music pioneer Klaus Schulze, and sometimes played live with Schulze as well. Schickert's moment solo album, Uberfallig, came out in 1979 on Sky Records, this time with Charles Heuer on drums to augment Schickert's echo guitar textures.

In the eighties Schickert's work in theater production continued, and he also took part in a duet of bands, No Zen Orchestra and Ziguri Ego Zoo. A third album under his possess name, this one a completely solo feat with him on guitar, tapes, vocals, percussion, and trumpet, Kinder der Wildnes, from 1983 only came out on cassette, though it showed that Schickert was expanding into a wider stove of musical styles. Another compendium, Somnabal, was released in 1995 on CD with euphony from throughout the decennary and a half in front that. Though his recordings ar few and hard to rail down, specially the debut Samtvogel, Schickert is an groundbreaking music divine wHO deserves more notice.
